This is our "The Original Angler" Log tee. This tee is extra soft and durable, with our Mason Southerly Logo on the front and our Original Angler design on the back.
We met “The Original Angler”, a brown pelican, during a camping trip in the Florida Keys. He was chilling by the fish-cleaning station—because who needs a fishing rod when you’ve got good timing? Total dockside diva, too—posing like he owned the place and giving us just as much side-eye curiosity as we gave him.
Fun facts: that big ol’ pouch can hold up to 3 gallons of water, and with a wingspan over seven feet, he’s basically the hang-glider of the bird world. Oh, and he snacks on about 4 pounds of fish a day—respect.
Even more about Pelicans:
- The brown pelican is the only pelican that goes full daredevil—diving from the sky, sometimes from 70 feet up, just to snag a fish.
- Pelican hatchlings need about 150 pounds of food provided for them until they are old enough to feed themselves.
- Pelicans have built-in air sacs in their bones that keep them buoyant and light enough to take to the skies. For such big, odd-looking birds, they’re impressively graceful in the air and slick when diving. But on land? Not so much. With their short legs and hefty build, they waddle around like awkward uncles at a beach party.
How to Help!
Don’t be that guy—clean up! Leftover lines and fishing gear are like booby traps for pelicans (and not the fun kind). Tangled wings = no bueno. Do the right thing: pack it up, toss it properly, and help our feathered fishin’ buddies stay happy, healthy, and gloriously dramatic in flight.
